A white Christmas

White shells from any craft store make the perfect ornaments for a tree in a window that overlooks the ocean.

Grapes

This costume was so much fun to dance in, and I encourage anyone to use my idea next year. I altered a thrift store 1980s prom dress to fit me, then blew up balloons, which I sewed into the flaps of the dress by wrapping the thread around the base of the balloons before making stitches. I made a headband using Christmas decorations, and had the perfect matching green pumps.

Dress: $4.50  Balloons: $3  Glitter for eye makeup: $1  Decorative hair leaves: $2  Total: $10.50

Water for Elephants

... made me want to cut my hair, curl it, and lounge around in silk dresses with small glasses of champagne.

I think these are brillz.

What was old...

is new again.

While browsing apartment decor at urbanoutfitters.com, I discovered a truly inspirational blog full of entries from people who submitted their before and after projects in hopes of winning a gift certificate. I thought this one was a great idea.
There are many other ideas here. They range from furniture to clothing.

Out with the old...

It's been a crazy two months. I got a new job, and now I've got a new apartment. The living room overlooks a river, but my room leaves room for improvement.

Not that Das What She Said will ever be a interior decorating blog, but I thought I'd share my inspiration pages for my new room that I'll be decorating this week.

Taking a gamble...

Our recent trip to Foxwoods casino!
I ended up losing $11 at the slots, which took longer than you'd think it would.

Why is this lion a big deal again?
My brother in law won $1,500 at poker, which he gave to my sister for a shopping spree! She eventually bought a new Gucci bag, which you'll all be seeing photos of soon.
I liked these Bebe clutches in one of the casino stores.

Be mine

I think some of the most lovely love notes are the ones featured in the "missed connections" section of craigslist.  These are all notes written by men, for women, who they thought would never know they had written them:

Stuck in the snow...
You asked me to help you push this young kid out of the snow. Just wanted to say your smile made my day.

Lizzie in Lynn
I miss what we had shared together elizabeth. I believe I made a huge mistake letting go of you. I wish we could talk at least. Halloween in Salem was the time of my life last fall. I miss you dorothy, and your toto too!

You slipped on ice
at the mall, then I helped you up. You were tall, cute, and a little embarrassed :) I'd love to grab a coffee, when the sidewalks are better.

Dinner at Chili's
I met you Saturday night. You were sitting a few seats down from me at the bar. I was tempted to ask the couple sitting between us to move down so that I could buy you a drink but I wasn't sure if you were alone or not. I tracked you down when we both left. You pulled into the gas station and we spoke. I'd love to know more about you. I know you'll never get this but I thought about you for the rest of the night wondering what might have happened if we had that drink.

Stop & Shop cutie
You are such a cutie. It motivates me to actually go shopping (which I HATE)

Orange you glad I didn't wear black?

Milani lipstick, H&M scarf

How bored am I with winter colors you ask?  Pretty bored.  Thanks for asking.  But when I can't take black, navy and charcoal any more, I throw on something orange to lift my spirits until the temperatures rise.  And if InStyle magazine is any clue, orange is going to be hot this spring.
1.) Forever21 multi row bead necklace $6.80
2.) Michael Kors peach ranger shoulder bag, price varies.
3.) JCrew crosstown tee $27.60
4.)ASOS pumpkin suede pointed court shoe $86.06

Diggin' Stone

I love Emma Stone's versatility.  She looks just as good here as she does shaping her hair into a shampoo mohawk in Easy A.  Score one for the smart funny girls.
