Then geeks took over the world...

Geeky Chic perfected by Morphine Generation.

I don't usually admit anything personal here, but I'll tell you a little secret: I work as a journalist. And yesterday I had the pleasure of interviewing a 16 year old third place winner in a national science fair. Repeat, national.

And he looked and acted very much the part.

He told me that during the science competition, when amongst other science enthusiasts, it was the first time he related to someone his age in a while, because his classmates were "mean."

And it made me feel bad for him, but it also made me feel bad for his naive classmates. Because in 15 years when he's among the people who are curing cancer, creating new music, running for president, and trying to figure out what to do with their millions, his classmates will be in their parents' basements flipping through old year books while sipping Naddy Lights.

So I went home, slapped on some of my obnoxiously bright lipstick and my favorite librarian glasses to prove a point: Geeks... are... hot. Really hot in fact.

They're smart enough to get your jokes, they plan to accomplish something with their lives, they care about things other than themselves, and since they were on the lower end of the social spectrum, they usually developed compassion and empathy along the way.

And I'm one of them. Height of my geekiness:

Didn't I look like Tavi from Stylerookie when I was a kid?

Some of my favorite Hollywood geeks:

  1. Wow!! You look beautiful with those glasses and hot pink lipstick!!!! What shade is that? Love it on you! :)

  2. Lose Zach Braff and I love this post. :P

  3. Cute photo with you and the glasses!

  4. Thank you so much for your sweet comment, that means a lot to me! What you mean by "dressed down"?

You know, that is not original. When jerks see that someone is better than they do, someone has a great future and potential, they become mad and jealous! They start to make jokes and make that someone loose his interest and enthusiasm. That happens in Russia all the time and that makes me really mad.

and check out my new project - Story of my Clothes

  5. Love all the pics.

  6. Geeks rule!! You look so cute in your glasses! I will always be attracted to geeky boys! xoxoxoxo

  7. to be honest, you did look like tavi when you were yougner !
