This costume was so much fun to dance in, and I encourage anyone to use my idea next year. I altered a thrift store 1980s prom dress to fit me, then blew up balloons, which I sewed into the flaps of the dress by wrapping the thread around the base of the balloons before making stitches. I made a headband using Christmas decorations, and had the perfect matching green pumps.

Dress: $4.50  Balloons: $3  Glitter for eye makeup: $1  Decorative hair leaves: $2  Total: $10.50

While browsing apartment decor at urbanoutfitters.com, I discovered a truly inspirational blog full of entries from people who submitted their before and after projects in hopes of winning a gift certificate. I thought this one was a great idea. 

There are many other ideas here. They range from furniture to clothing.

It's been a crazy two months. I got a new job, and now I've got a new apartment. The living room overlooks a river, but my room leaves room for improvement.
